Change to a links-only or self-playing presentation

By default, your presentation is set to advance when you click a slide. You can set the presentation to advance only when you click a link, or to advance automatically with no user interaction.

You can also set your presentation to start playing automatically when the Keynote file is opened.

Change how a presentation plays

  1. Click the Document tab at the top of the sidebar on the right.

If you don’t see a sidebar, or the sidebar doesn’t have a Document tab, click Change to a links-only or self-playing presentation in the toolbar.

  2. Click the Presentation Type pop-up menu, then choose an option:

    • Normal: Advances when you click or tap a slide.

    • Links only: Changes Slides only when the presenter (or viewer) clicks or taps a link.

    • Self-Playing: Advances automatically, like a movie, with no interaction needed. Self-playing presentations are useful, for example, in a kiosk setting.
